Chernobyl

I remember
A time when things were okay
Not great, not bad
Before the storm
I had a life.

Then it hit.

The Darkness sweeping in
Overtaking everything
Leaving the smallest traces
Of what was
Only recognizable to those
That knew it before.

Filled with Darkness
Bursting with nothingness
The power went out
The laughter disappeared

A wasteland left
In the wake of destruction
The air settled
Like Chernobyl before it
Uninhabitable
Nothing but a shell
Of what was.

It is no more
I am no more.
